2012 Travel Habits Survey

Monday 26 November 2012

The Environment Department is about to commence a survey of islanders to establish their travel habits. The survey responses once analysed will form part of the evidence base on which the Department will formulate proposals for a new Transport Strategy.

When Deputy Domaille stood for election as Minister of the Environment Department one of his pledges was to ensure the States had the opportunity to debate a new Transport Strategy during 2013. To this end the Environment Department has set up a politically led working group which is now establishing the evidence-base on which new policies can be built. The survey forms part of this process.

Households have been randomly selected from the postal address registry and will be receiving a letter requesting them to take part in the survey. All survey interviews will be carried out by temporary staff appointed by the Environment Department who will make contact and conduct the surveys in person.

The surveyors will carry identification but anyone having any doubts or concerns can of course contact the Department for verification.

Ultimately the information acquired will be beneficial for the Island community as a whole and we therefore ask that all selected households help by agreeing to participate in the survey.
