The Environment Department is advising that the 2-hour disc parking spaces on the Crown and Albert piers will be designated as 3-hour parking from 29 November until 4 January 2015.
The changes are in response to a request from the Town Centre Partnership and will allow additional time for those who have parked to shop and socialise over the festive period.
In addition to the above, for the four Saturdays in the run up to Christmas (29 Nov, 6, 13, and 20 Dec) and the three Thursday late night shopping nights (4, 11, 18 Dec), motorists will be able to park at Lukis House in the Grange.
Lukis House which is located near to the Upland Road junction is just a short walk away (via St James Street) from the heart of St Peter Port's shopping area and it will save drivers travelling from the west of the Island having to wait for available parking spaces on the North Beach or the Piers where demand is often high, particularly at this time of year. On Thursday nights, motorists will be permitted to park from 18:00 until 22:00, whilst on a Saturday parking will be available all day until 19:00.
Motorists are also reminded that evening (from 18:00) and weekend parking is permitted all year around at Sir Charles Frossard House. Parking is ideal for those wishing to visit the shops/restaurants in Trinity Square, the Old Quarter or at Market Street/Square. For those who may struggle to walk longer distances, particularly on the return uphill to Sir Charles Frossard House, then people will have the option to catch a scheduled bus.
Routes 11, 91 and 93 travel from the terminus past Sir Charles Frossard House. CT Plus will also shortly be releasing information about additional Thursday evening services aimed at late night shoppers.
