Media Enquiry from BBC Radio Guernsey:
I'm doing a story on the Mount Row traffic lights, where there have been a number of accidents/prangs in the last two years.
We'd like to find out the following:
Why is there currently a filter-in-turn at the Mount Row traffic lights?
Is this a trial for a permanent arrangement?
If not, are there any plans to make changes at the junction?
Would the department consider changing it into a filter-in-turn?
Environment Department Response:
Over the weekend there was a fault with the traffic signals at Mount Row resulting in the lights having to be turned off until an engineer could attend. As is standard practice, filter in turn signs were placed out at the junction.
The fault was rectified on Tuesday morning and the lights are now back in operation.
There are no plans to make any changes to the junction. A filter would provide no provision for pedestrians to safely cross at this junction.
