Update - Issue of PSV Licence (Additional Questions)

Monday 16 November 2015

Media Enquiry from Guernsey Press:

Thanks again for the response. I just had a few more questions following on from this.

  1. Over the last five years can Environment tell me how many applicants with criminal records have applied for a taxi licence?

  2. Could it outline how many of these were granted a licence?

  3. What past convictions did these successful applicants have?

Environment Department Response:

All applicants for a Permit to Drive a Public Services Vehicle (PSV Permit) are required to undertake an enhanced level Disclosure and Barring Service.  Section 7 of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Law, 2002 does not apply and, as a consequence of this, all previous convictions and/or cautions are disclosed, irrespective of the time period that has elapsed since the offence or alleged offence took place.  As soon as the application has been determined this disclosure is destroyed as part of the Data Protection requirements. The Environment Department does not keep a permanent record of applicants past criminal records and so cannot answer these questions.
