Men ACWY offers protection against meningitis (inflammation of the brain) and septicaemia (blood poisoning) caused by four meningococcal strains, which are rare, but life-threatening.
This vaccine is normally administered by school nurses but if you were born between 01.09.97 and 31.08.98 and no longer in education you may have missed out on the vaccine.
Any young person born between these dates is entitled to have this vaccine. An appointment can be made on the following days by telephoning 01481 725241 ext 5286:
- Thursday 7th July between 08.30 -09.30
- Tuesday 2nd August between 15.00-16.00
- Tuesday 16th August between 15.00-16.00
- Tuesday 23rd August between 15.00-16.00
These clinics will be held at Lukis House in the Grange, St Peter Port.
