Grammar School & Sixth Form Centre results

A levels
This year's pass rate has risen to 99.5% (up by 1% from 2016) and there has been a significant increase in the highest grades with 29.5% of grades at A*/A. The school has recorded some of its best results since 2009 with over 86% of grades at A*-C and 61.2% at A*-B.

Kieran James, Deputy Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form Studies, stated:

'We are delighted with this year's excellent results, which are testament to our students' and teachers' commitment and dedication, as well as to the culture of independent learning that has continued to develop in the Sixth Form. These results look set to build upon last year's impressive Level 3 Value Added measure, which would place our school in the top 12% of similar Sixth Forms in the UK in terms of student progress.'

International Baccalaureate

Liz Coffey, Headteacher said:

'The students should be congratulated on their achievements at A Level, which when added to the similarly impressive results for the IB Diploma demonstrate the thriving learning community within the school. As the States provider of academic post-16 courses, students from a wide range of backgrounds have made excellent progress, thanks to the support they receive from their tutors, teachers and parents/carers.'

College of Further Education Level 3 Results

The College of Further Education's full-time Level 3 students have delivered an excellent set of results this year.

'We are delighted to declare that the results of our full-time students on two-year Level 3 courses is superb at 99%, which is a massive 5% improvement from last year, with 57% of their grades being Distinction or Distinction star, which are equivalent to A or A*, respectively, at A Level,' said CFE Principal, Louise Misselke.

'This is an outstanding achievement for our students. I am delighted to see the culmination of their work in such brilliant results. The College staff are so proud of our students' attainment. We know the amount of work, and dedication, that they put in towards achieving their qualifications. We are so grateful for all the support they have received from their families, friends, and their employers, which helped them to succeed', said Mrs Misselke.

Vice-president of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, Deputy Carl Meerveld, congratulated all those receiving their results today.

'Well done to all our students for achieving such a fantastic set of results again this year. This is testament not only to their hard work but also thanks to the hard work and support of their teachers, lecturers and support staff; the Island should feel extremely proud today. I hope that all the young people receiving their results are now able to take the next steps towards university or employment and I know there is support on hand to help them with these important decisions. Today though they should celebrate,' said Deputy Meerveld.
