Work to install a raised table at the Route du Longfrie/Route de Lihou junction will begin on Monday, following the installation of the filter and work to increase visibility for vehicles.
This safety improvement will highlight the presence of the filter and will help to reduce the risk of motorists failing to give way to traffic at the junction.
Colin Le Page, Licensing and Operations Manager - Traffic and Highway Services, said:
"Visibility improvements were made and this was followed by the installation of a filter at the junction as a trial which was monitored to see if it would reduce the speed of vehicles using this junction. However, traffic speed surveys, along with feedback from the Douzaine and regular users of the roads, revealed that there had been a small reduction in the average speed of vehicles but the filter alone had not significantly addressed road safety concerns. Therefore with speeding a proven issue in the area, it was decided to install the filter on a raised table which will force vehicles to slow down and hopefully improve road safety in the area."
