Catching the bus in Guernsey is now quicker and easier than ever with changes made by Traffic and Highway Services.
Bus services operated by CT Plus will accept contactless payments from Monday 16th September. This is a quick, easy and secure way to pay for tickets when using our bus services. Payments can be made by placing contactless cards (except American Express), smart-devices such as phones, wristbands or watches, on the ticket machine reader.
Single tickets as well as one and two day passes can be purchased on the buses, but seven day passes will need to be obtained from the Town Terminus Shop. At this stage, Puffinpasses cannot be toped up using the contactless services as it is anticipated that this will increases boarding times and in return, slow down the journeys.
All you need to do to buy your ticket on board is:
Step 1: Ask for the ticket you would like
Step 2: Place your contactless card/device over the card reader
Step 3: Wait for your ticket to be printed
Step 4: Enjoy your journey!
Each ticket issued acts as a receipt.
Karl Guille, Director of Traffic & Highway Services, said:
"We are delighted to be offering our customers the option to purchase their bus tickets by using contactless payments. It is vital that we update and improve the services we offer in order to meet the needs of our community. With the increase in use of smartphones and smartwatches, we felt it was important to investigate and implement contactless payments. It is anticipated that this new payment method will encourage more people to use the bus service by reducing reliance on the need to carry cash."
