Over 800 Lifestyle and Recreation Surveys completed so far

Since it was launched earlier this month, over 800 Guernsey Lifestyle and Recreation Surveys have been completed.

The Survey is organised by the Public Health Institute at the Liverpool John Moores University and was commissioned by Guernsey Public Health Services. Its aim is to collect information about Guernsey residents' opinions and lifestyles on many aspects of health and wellbeing including gambling participation and attitudes to gambling. The responses will help Health and Social Care plan and improve health services to meet the population's needs. Invitations to participate in the online survey were sent to 7000 households chosen at random and paper copies are also available.

Head of Health Intelligence, Jenny Cataroche said,

"We are pleased with the response so far and we would like to thank everyone who has completed their survey on line or sent back their paper copy of the Questionnaire. However to ensure that our findings are reliable and accurate we would like to have as many responses as possible. I would therefore ask those people who have not yet participated to do so by 30th November at the latest.

The survey is also open to anyone over the age of 16 even if they didn't receive an invitation. Just go to www.gov.gg/lifestylesurvey and click on the link. Paper copies are available by telephoning Public Health Services Tel 707311.

The Survey is confidential and will not be linked back to individual respondents. We would like to hear from people even if they don't participate in gambling so I would encourage everyone to take part."

The replies are being collated by Liverpool John Moores University and will be analysed over the coming months. The results will be combined with discussions from several stakeholder events and interviews and the final report will be available next year.
