Count me in: Over 10,000 registrations for the new Electoral Roll

Friday 20 December 2019

Since the new Electoral Roll opened on Monday 2nd December, over 10,000 registrations have been submitted.

This includes around 4000 online and 6000 paper form registrations. With each paper form able to include up to five individuals' registration details, it is expected that the total number registered will exceed 13,000 once all of the forms received have been processed.

Those wishing to sign up to the Electoral Roll can do so by visiting election2020.gg. The website also contains information on the convenience of postal voting, and other details about the election process. The Electoral Roll will remain open until Thursday 30th April 2020.

To be eligible to vote in next year's Island-wide Election you will need to be 16 years old by 17th June 2020, and have been resident in the Island for the last 2 years continuously, or for 5 years at any time if you have left the Island and returned.

David Mullins, Lead Election Officer, said:

"Signing up to the new Electoral Roll is nice and easy and should take less than 5 minutes to do. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all Islanders to sign up to the Electoral Roll using the online form available or by using the household registration form."
