In the light of the guidance issued by the Director of Public Health on social distancing at public gatherings, the Bailiff as Presiding Officer of the States has decided that it will not be possible for the forthcoming meeting of the States to be held in the Royal Court Chamber.
The meeting convened for Wednesday 18th March will now be held in the St James and Concert and Assembly Hall at 9.30 am. A meeting at St James will make it possible for the seating to be configured in such a way as to allow the correct amount of social distancing between members (currently a minimum of 2m).
Members whose profile currently fits the latest advice for self-isolating should not attend the meeting.
It is currently under review whether to restrict public access other than to the media. The debate will be broadcast as normal, the proceedings recorded and the Hansard produced.
