Extra Saturday Opening to Enroll in EU Settled Status Scheme

Monday 26 October 2020

An extra Saturday opening of the Immigration and Nationality Office at the Passport Office, New Jetty, White Rock, will take place on 31st October to assist any remaining EU, EEA or Swiss Nationals in the Bailiwick who have not yet enrolled with the EU Settled Status Scheme.

It will be open between 10am and 2pm.

The scheme has been open since 01 April 2019 and will remain so for any EU, EEA or Swiss National who is currently resident here or arrives in the Bailiwick on or by 31 December 2020. There will be an extended period for applicants to submit their registration - 30 June 2021. The UK and the EU have agreed that affected citizens' rights will continue as at present until 31 December 2020. As a result, if those citizens want to stay in the Bailiwick of Guernsey beyond that date, they will need to apply under the EU/EEA/Swiss Settlement Scheme. This will allow those citizens and their family members to continue to live and work in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and will allow them to continue to have ongoing rights to healthcare, work arrangements and public services.

It is important to note that the EU/EEA/Swiss Settlement Scheme will be operated under immigration legislation and is entirely separate to the Population Management Law which operates in Guernsey, and any domestic laws controlling employment and residence in Alderney and Sark, which will continue to apply as they do now.

Immigration & Nationality Manager Lorraine Coupland said:

"With Brexit approaching, it is important that those EU, EEA or Swiss nationals resident in the Bailiwick who have not already registered under the EU Settlement Scheme do so without delay.  The Immigration & Nationality office (situated at the Passport Office) will be opening to the public on Saturday 31 October from 10.00 to 14.00 to accept applications and provide advice. We would encourage every employer to publicise the scheme to their staff.  The scheme is free and the application process is quick and easy".

Where can I get an application form?

The Settlement Scheme forms and information leaflets are available online via:www.gov.gg/immigration

Applicants can download the form or alternatively forms can be collected from:

Completed applications can be submitted by those attending The Passport Office on Saturday 31st October.

Alternatively they can be made in person, at any of the following locations:

When an applicant makes their application, they should submit their valid passport or national identity card.
