Friday 18 November 2022
Eligible islanders will have until 21 December 2022 to receive their COVID-19 autumn booster.
The COVID-19 Autumn booster programme has been running since the end of September 2022 providing booster vaccinations to:
- All adults aged 50 years and over
- Those aged 5 to 49 in clinical risk groups - including pregnant women
- Those aged 5 to 49 who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
- Those aged 16 to 49 who are carers
- Residents in care homes for older adults and the staff who work there
- Frontline health and social care workers
To date 15,073 booster doses have been delivered in this autumn programme.
With the remainder of invitation letters being sent out to eligible islanders between now and the end of November, it has been agreed that this phase of the vaccine programme will end on Wednesday 21 December 2022.
This announcement will mean that islanders who are invited for their booster during November will have at least 4 weeks in which to make an appointment and attend either the Community Vaccination Centre (CVC) or their Primary Care Practice to receive their booster.
Those who are unable to attend before 21 December 2022 due to COVID-19 or other illnesses will be able to attend ad-hoc clinics at the CVC or Primary Care early in the new year.
In anticipation of a surge in requests for bookings now that an end date has been announced, the Vaccine Contact Centre has plans in place to accommodate the necessary appointments.
If you have already received an invitation letter and wish to take up the offer of an autumn booster, please call 01481 220001 or email vcc@gov.gg.
