More than 100 primary school students are being trained to become 'Digital Leaders' for their schools.
The Digital Leadership Day today, Tuesday 16th May, will see a selection of Year 4 and Year 5 students, who have been chosen following an in-school application process, learn key digital skills. All primary schools, including St Anne's in Alderney, will be represented.
Sponsored by PWC, the event will see students receive leadership training on:
- Presenting skills
- Research skills
- Technical skills
- Leadership and teamwork skill
They will also receive a goody bag with lots of useful digital equipment.
Kim Hutchison, Head of Primary Leadership and Development, said:
'This event, which we're so grateful to PWC for supporting, perfectly aligns with one of our commitments under the Education Strategy, which is to ensure that our education system equips learners with the knowledge and skills so they can succeed wherever they are, either within or beyond the Bailiwick, now and in the future. We live in a digital world, our curriculum recognises that and events like this will only further our young people's understanding of how technology plays a significant role in the development of the skills they will need in order to succeed.'
Ralph Meijer, PWC Digital Learning Manager, said:
'Working closely with schools across Guernsey, and especially these young digital leaders, we can play a key role in inspiring, encouraging and preparing children for a world of technology through exposure to innovative digital education. That's what PwC aims to do. It's important to note too that we don't just emphasise digital skills, but also help to instil the 4Cs of EdTech - curiosity, creativity, collaboration and confidence - all of which are needed to make the most of new technology.'
