Essential trench works continue on the PEH campus

Friday 02 June 2023

The second phase of essential trench works on the PEH campus will start on Monday 5 June 2023 to enable an upgrade to the electricity supply from the new substation to the main hospital building.

As with Phase 1, the work will be carried out in phases to minimise impact to the site and ensuring the business-as-usual activities of the hospital can continue. We will ensure access via the ED entrance for appointments, or the Emergency Department is maintained at all times.

The second phase of the trench works will take place in the car park outside of the Emergency Department and will continue along the back edge of the car park outside the Bulstrode Entrance to the hospital.  The trenching will mean a loss of parking spaces in this area in phases - the trench will be backfilled every 12 metres with the parking reinstated as the works progress.

It is really important while these essential works are carried out people park in designated parking areas. We ask that people don't double park and don't park on the yellow lines on the corner of the Bulstrode car park, at the top end of Le Marchant Ward, as this will block the bend and is dangerous.

The accessible parking spaces will remain available outside the Emergency Department for the duration of the works. If service users are struggling to find a space while the trenching works is taking place, they are able to use the staff parking at the Oberlands Entrance to the hospital.

The Voluntary Transport Service provides a door-to-door transport for health and well-being related appointments and activities. You can register to use the scheme here: Voluntary Community Transport Service - Health Connections Guernsey or call 01481 227470.

Further updates will be provided as the trench work progresses and access to the site changes.
