100 pairs of clogs donated to staff caring for COVID-19 patients

Thursday 16 April 2020

Channel Jumper, Alderney has donated 100 pairs of clogs for use in the Intensive Care Unit and on Brock and Carey Ward.

Channel Jumper is run by Chris Kronwitter and Fran Jennings. Keen to support health and care workers in the Bailiwick in some way, Fran shipped over the remaining stock they held in the store in Alderney and Chris, who was in lockdown in Switzerland at the time and unable to return to Alderney, fedexed the remainder direct from his factory in Switzerland.

John Eaton, ICU Manager said:

'We were delighted to receive this generous donation.

These clogs, as well as being comfortable, are easily cleaned between shifts. This means they can be left in the HOT ICU and used by multiple staff.

Staff change into these clogs as they come into the areas of the hospital that are caring for COVID-19 patients and leave their own shoes (which are more difficult to clean) in the staff change areas.'
