The Policy & Resources Committee has now appointed an independent panel to review States Members' remuneration for the next political term, and the panel has held its first meeting.
The successful applicants are: Mr Richard Hamilton, who will chair the panel, Mr Ed Freestone and Mr Michael Fooks. Between them, the panel members have a wealth of experience across the public and private sectors and during their respective careers have examined pay issues from both a management and staff perspective.
Vice-President of the Policy & Resources Committee, Deputy Heidi Soulsby, said
"The Committee is delighted that it has been possible to appoint a team with such a diverse range of experience, which will no doubt prove invaluable as the panel progresses its work."
The panel met for the first time on Wednesday 17th January and agreed that the first phase of its review will commence soon, with a questionnaire to all Deputies. Public consultation will follow in the spring.
Panel Chair, Mr Hamilton, said
"The Panel is very aware that there are a wide range of views surrounding States Members' remuneration and is conscious of the need to balance a range of factors very carefully in reaching its conclusions but it is very much looking forward to rising to the challenge in the coming months."
