Notre Dame Primary School receives an extremely positive external inspection

Tuesday 04 April 2023

Notre Dame du Rosaire Catholic Primary School has received an extremely positive external inspection report from Ofsted.

The school has been rated as 'excellent' in Personal Development and Welfare, and 'good' in the remaining four categories of The Quality of Education; Behaviour and Attitudes; Leadership and Management; and Early Years provision.

Ofsted's report highlights that:

Inspectors also identified some areas where the school needed to improve. There are inconsistencies in how well some aspects of the curriculum are taught and assessed. Leaders also need to make sure that what they expect is happening, is evident in practice.

The external inspection agreement with Ofsted grades categories from inadequate to requires improvement, good and excellent.

Mary Robertshaw, Notre Dame Headteacher, said:

'We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised such hugely positive outcomes for all our pupils. Our Golden Values underpin all that we do here at Notre Dame, so to achieve these gradings speaks to the tremendous dedication of our staff, children and whole school community who all live and breathe our inclusive values.  I'm incredibly proud to lead this school and we will all continue to strive to deliver the very best we can for the children we serve.'

Nick Hynes, Director of Education, said:

'This Ofsted inspection report is a credit to Mary and her team. The inspection report is a glowing reflection of the standard of education delivered at the school. Very few inspections carried out nationally achieve these kinds of grades so I really can't stress enough how impressive this is. I would like to thank and congratulate all staff at the school.'

Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, said:

'I have stated many times before that external inspections are crucial to ensure that the community is clear about the standards being achieved by our settings and this is also a core part of our Education Strategy. External inspections allow us to celebrate successes and focus on addressing issues, but the importance of having that external validation remains regardless of the outcome. In the case of Notre Dame, on behalf of the Committee I want to congratulate Mary and her staff for the incredibly positive inspection report, which is a credit to all that they are achieving at the school.'
