Members of the community are encouraged to comment on the proposals on this page. Below you will find details regarding the live public consultations currently in progress as well as information about how to submit your views. 

Public consultations take place under legislative or policy requirements and therefore the duration of each public consultation may vary. As part of the public consultation process, a notice is often published in La Gazette and where a consultation is in relation to changes to infrastructure, a site notice is usually placed at the location of the proposed changes.

The proposals may include parking changes, road layout or road safety improvements, road prohibitions, public transport related changes or fee changes.

  • Prohibited Street Trial

    • From 11th March 2024, Ruette de la Tourelle, St Pierre du Bois will be subject to a formal 9 to 12 month trial whereby the road will be prohibited to power-driven and animal drawn vehicles. Pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders may continue to access Ruette de la Tourelle.

    • The Traffic Temporary (Ruette de la Tourelle) Regulations, 2024 can be viewed below. Any person wishing to comment in relation to the trial should do so by email to traffic@gov.gg or in writing to Traffic and Highway Services, Edward T Wheadon House, Le Truchot, St Peter Port, GY1 3WH no later than 11th March 2025.

  • Prohibited Street Trial

    • From 6th September 2023, Route des Coutures, St Martin will be subject to a formal 9 to 12 month trial whereby the majority of motor vehicles will be prohibited from driving on a section of the road on school days between the periods of 8.30am to 9.00am and 2.45pm to 3.15pm, when pupils typically arrive at or leave St Martin's Primary School.
    • Between the above specified times the prohibition will apply to all motor vehicles, other than emergency vehicles or vehicles accessing premises (excluding the school), unless the motorist uses the prohibited section of road in accordance with written permission from the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure or has permission from a police officer.

Closed consultations

Below you will find details of consultations that have closed within the last six months. The outcome of consultations will be published once all comments have been considered and a decision has been reached.

  • Proposed Variation in Maximum Taxi Fares

    • Consultation Outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, as of Monday 27th November 2023 the Taxi fare increases will be implemented. The media release in relation to the increases can be viewed here.
    • Proposed Maximum Taxi Fares to Increase by 7.67% from Monday 27th November 2023
    • Section 1 (1) of The Public Transport Ordinance, 1986 requires the Committee to notify the public of its intention to vary the maximum fares chargeable for the hire of a Taxi. 
    • Taxi fares were last increased by 4.51% in April 2023 using the approved Halcrow formula and based on indexation between June 2021 to June 2022 and taking into account an interim increase in April 2022. The proposed increase of 7.67% is based on indexation figures from June 2022 to June 2023.
    • The change will mean that for a 2 mile journey on Tariff 1 (normal hours) (maximum of 4 passengers) the fare will increase by 60p from £8.10 to £8.70 and for a 5 mile journey on Tariff 2 (evening hours / bank holidays) (maximum of 4 passengers) the fare will increase by £1.80 from £21.30 to £23.10. Other increases will depend on the tariff and the length of the journey. The minimum fare (standing charge) will remain at £4.50 for Tariff 1 and there will be no increase in the baggage charge of 20p per item.

  • Bus Fares

    • Consultation Outcome​​​​
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, as of 1 October 2023 a number of bus fares and product prices will be changing. The full price list can be found here, with the new changes highlighted in bold.
    • Please find below details of the public consultation for the proposed increases in bus fares. Any person wishing to comment on the proposed changes should do so by email to passengertransport@gov.gg or in writing to The Senior Passenger Transport Officer, Driver and Vehicle Licensing, Edward T Wheadon House, Le Truchot, St Peter Port, GY1 3WH no later than Wednesday 6th September.​​​​

  • Parking Changes

    • The public consultation for the following parking changes will commence from Tuesday 8th August 2023. Any person wishing to comment on a proposal should do so by email to traffic@gov.gg or in writing to Traffic and Highway Services, Edward T Wheadon House, Le Truchot, St Peter Port, GY1 3WH no later than Tuesday 22nd August. 

    • Install two accessible parking spaces - Victoria Road, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, temporary accessible parking spaces have been installed and a permanent installation will follow at each location in Victoria Road as specified below. 
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install two accessible parking spaces in Victoria Road following requests from Blue Badge holders who are resident within the area.
    • Remove an accessible parking space - Mount Hermon, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, the decison has been made to proceed with the removal of the accessible parking space at this location in Mount Hermon and it will be replaced with a 5hr disc parking space.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to remove an unused accessible parking space in Mount Hermon.
    • Install an accessible parking space - Vauvert, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, a temporary accessible parking space has been installed and a permanent installation will follow at this location in Vauvert as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in Vauvert following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
    • Install an accessible parking space - Pedvin Street, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, the decision has been made not to proceed with the installation of an additional accessible parking space at this location due to decreased demand for accessible parking within the immediate area.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in Pedvin Street following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
    • Install an accessible parking space - La Vallette, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, the additional accessible parking space will be installed at this location in La Vallette as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an additional accessible parking space in La Vallette due to high demand and the popularity of the location.
    • Install an accessible parking space - Piette Road, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, a temporary accessible parking space has been installed and a permanent installation will follow at this location in Piette Road as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in Piette Road following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
    • Install an accessible parking space - Courtil Bris, St Peter Port
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, a temporary accessible parking space has been installed and a permanent installation will follow at this location in Courtil Bris as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in Courtil Bris following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
    • Install an accessible parking space - Victoria Avenue, St Sampson
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, a temporary accessible parking space has been installed and a permanent installation will follow at this location in Victoria Avenue as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in Victoria Avenue following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
    • Install an accessible parking space - La Tonnelle car park, St Sampson
    • Consultation outcome
    • This consultation has now closed. Following the consultation, the additional accessible parking space will be installed at this location in La Tonnelle car park as specified below.
    • Traffic and Highway Services propose to install an accessible parking space in La Tonnelle car park (The Halfway) following a request from a Blue Badge holder who is resident within the area.
